Safari Parks in Alicante

There are actually 3 safari parks within close distance of Alicante, so you are spoiled for choice. They all have great access so you will find them with ease.

First of all we have the Vergel Safari Park which is situated near the town of Ondara, which is heading north of Benidorm. The Safari is home to lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, zebras, and loads of different monkeys, and if you are lucky you might see the Iberian wolves that roaming free in the Safari.

You will have to stay in your car throughout most of the Safari but there is a picnic area, where you can walk amongst more domesticated animals like pigs, ponies and cattle. You will also be able to enjoy the dolphin arena, which puts on daily display shows.

If you are looking for a bit more action then you may want to have a go on the go carts, take a ride on the mini train, or take a break in the Kiddies play area, so there really is all round entertainment for the whole family.

You can get to the Safari Park either on the A1 or the N332 and it is pretty well sign posted. The Safari park opens from 10 til 7 in the high season and from 10 til 5 in the winter months.

The Aitana Safari Park is situated in a high mountainous region near Alcoy, where you will be privileged to see lions, tigers, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and giraffes. The kiddie zoo is also worth a look and is where the smaller animals are raised, so it's a bit like an animal kindergarten. If you fancy eating Al Fresco then there is a beautiful picnic area, otherwise you can enjoy the delights served up in the restaurant, whose specialty are the local dishes of the region.

The Rio Safari is situated in Elche, which is just up the road from Alicante and you can arrive comfortably in 30 minutes. This Safari Park should not be missed out as you will be amazed at the different types of animals on display, such as lions, tigers, monkeys, loads of crocodiles, exotic birds and more dolphins.
