Tourist Attractions in Alicante

Alicante has quite a compact city centre, with many worthy tourist attractions within a short distance of each other, particularly around the historical part of Alicante called the "Barrio". There are approximately 15 km of beautiful sandy beaches including the San Juan Beach, which is connected to the main harbour area in Alicante by a modern Tram service as well as a regular bus service.

For those who enjoy walking, the "Esplanada" is a well kept seafront promenade, with superb views and lined with palm trees. Other popular tourist attractions in Alicante include the lively marina area, regular performances at Alicante's Theatre, shopping around the "Plaza del Puerto Viejo", and a nightlife for people of all ages .

The city's marina area is a particularly lively and a vibrant part of Alicante and is home to many popular tourist attractions. Many of the best restaurants and bars can be found along the waterfront, serving fresh seafood dishes. The Alicante marina also often features boat hire and pleasure trips around the harbour and to the local island of Tabarca.

Alicante's Theatre offers an extensive calendar of events with concerts, operas, ballet and jazz performances. The shows are varied and extremely popular for both local residents and tourists, especially during the high season.

You can visit most of these attractions in Alicante throughout the year, although I would avoid August and September, unless you really enjoys temperatures of around 35/40 degrees.
